The 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia, the most important national cycling race and one of the most prestigious in the world, returns to Emilia-Romagna with a stage in Romagna, from Riccone to Cento.

Stage 13, Friday 17 May 2024
A completely flat stage linking the beaches of the Riviera with the center of the Po Valley. The first part follows the Via Emilia, changing direction after Imola. After crossing the northern part of Bologna, the stage ends in the town of Cento with a very likely bunch sprint.

This year it is our country that has the privilege of kicking off the most followed cycling event in the world, the Tour de France, thanks to the collaboration between Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Piedmont, three regions that have always loved cycling and are committed to promoting a strong cycling culture, also from a tourist point of view.

Three stages across central-northern Italy to the French border, for a total distance of over 600km.

Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April 2024, two days of celebration in the heart of Food Valley with the official Tour de France Granfondo, for the first time in Italy.

To satisfy the desires of the thousands of cycling enthusiasts who come to Emilia-Romagna every year, a rich calendar of competitive and non-competitive races has been planned.

Many of these races have become national and international events over the years, making Emilia-Romagna a reference point for all cyclists.

• Sunday, 17th March 2024 | The Granfondo del Po, part of the Unesco Cycling Tour circuit, starts in the shadow of Ferrara’s Castello Estense and runs along the banks of the Po; an atypical Granfondo because there are no climbs, but the speed and wind make it challenging;
• Sunday, 24th March 2024 | The 22nd edition of the Granfondo Riccione returns with a 116.9 km route that climbs 1.730 meters in altitude: a scenic up and down among the hills and villages of the Conca Valley;
• Sunday, 7th April 2024 | The 27th edition of the Granfondo Via del Sale includes two routes: the long ‘Riopetra’ (145 km), with four climbs and a total of 1778 meters in altitude, and the short ‘Montecavallo’ (104 km), suitable also for “less fit legs”, with a total of 999 meters in altitude;
• Sunday 12th May 2024 | The Granfondo Squali, in its 9th edition, features 3 routes (the 128 km Granfondo, the 85 km Mediofondo, and the 46 km Squali46) and 3 days of festivities, from Friday to Sunday;
• Sunday 19th May 2024 | The 53rd edition of Granfondo Nove Colli offers three routes: the 200 km for trained athletes, the 130 km for expert cyclists and the 60 km, which offers a truly new way of experiencing the race;
• Sunday, 2nd June 2024 | The Granfondo Dieci Colli Arrow, part of the Cycling Italia circuit of UNESCO World Heritage Cities, is in its 38th edition and this year features a 117.36km route;
• Sunday 23rd June 2024 | The Granfondo Matildica returns with its 52nd edition in Reggio Emilia and, as always, is valid as a qualifying stage of the UCI Granfondo Series circuit;
• Sunday 15th September 2024 | The Gialla Cycling in Misano Adriatico, part of the Italian Bike Festival program, returns with four routes: two road (103 km and 63 km) and two gravel (102 km and 72 km).

The new edition of the Italian Bike Festival, one of the most important International Bike Shows in Europe, returns to the Misano World Circuit over the weekend of 13-15 September 2024 for three days of fun and themed initiatives.

A reference point for the bicycle and soft mobility market, the IBF is a great event capable of combining product presentation, testing, and entertainment, under the banner of one great passion: two wheels!

Two off-road events will take place in Emilia-Romagna in 2024:

• From 25 to 29 May 2024 | The Romagna MTB Rally, in Salsomaggiore Terme;
• From 2 to 7 September 2024 | The Appenninica MTB Stage Race, a stage race across the Apennines of Emilia-Romagna, starting this year in Bologna.
